We are a new youth-oriented organization, looking to do Mentoring in a different form than it has been offered in this area before. We are a project of Mancos Valley Resources (501c3), and this summer we won a grant through Mentor Colorado and the OJJDP (The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention) which supported us in getting the majority of our Policies and Procedures, as well as Mentor and Mentee Applications and other paperwork complete.
We are looking for some enthusiastic folks to join us in our mission: to support youth in building agency and resilience through positive relationships, community service and inspired goal setting. Are you a community member of almost any age (with a bit of spare time) interested in building a youth organization like Montezuma County has never seen?! We hope you’ll join us!
It will be a fun, creative process, as we are working to brainstorm around this pandemic, as well as creating a vision that inspires youth leadership and involvement. We are orienting our programming around: youth imagined goals, as well as social justice and community service. We strive to encourage youth in building agency, empowerment and belonging through various methods of community relationship building.
Please get in touch with us if you feel called to support us in any way! (So you want examples, eh? Well: board membership, grant writing, editing support, brainstorming, investigative work, donations, social media assistance, you name it! We can probably find something for you to do!)
You can look up our web page on the Mancos Valley Resources Projects Page. We are also working on our Facebook and Instagram Pages (though if you’re good at that sort of thing, we could clearly use your help!)
Your skills are needed! Give us a ring!
